The Bao-An temple in the Datong district of Taipei (full name: Dalongdong Baoan, in Chinese: 大龍峒保安宮) was built in 1805 on the site of an earlier wooden temple set up in 1742 by Chinese immigrants from Fujian. The temple is dedicated to the emperor Bao-shen, a famous doctor. Inside the temple is a statue of the goddess of birth. For this reason this temple is popular with pregnant women. The temple attracts a large number of believers who come here for praying.
