Yusuf Al-Azmah was the Syrian Minister of War and Chief of Staff under Prince Faisal from 1918 to 1920. General Al-Azmah led a hopeless last stand against overwhelming French colonial forces in Khan Maysalun in 1920, to fight for the independence of Syria.
