Belgrade lies at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers in the north of Serbia. The historic core is located on the eastern side of the Sava river, while the modern part of the city is mostly on the western side. There is no nice waterfront area with a promenade on the eastern bank, but there is one on the western side. Some cafes are located on large boats anchored along the western bank of the Sava river.
