The Souks

To the north of the Djemaa el-Fna square lies a labyrinth of small ancient alleys and arcades with shops selling handicrafts and local wares. These streets are calles souks or souqs. It is easy to get lost in the souks and it's advisable to use a guide if time is short. In the souks area lie the Ali ben Youssef medersa and mosque as well as the Marrakech museum.
