Casablanca ("white house" in Spanish, "Dar el Beida" in Arabic) is a relatively modern city on the Atlantic coast of Morocco. It is Morocco's largest city with 3 million inhabitant, its largest port and the economic centre. Casablanca does not have many old buildings, having been developed mainly by the French towards the end of the 19th century. Casablanca is the most westernised city in Morocco and the young people here tend to follow a western life style. Most young women do not cover their heads. In Casablanca is home to the Hassan II mosque, which was completed in 1989 and is the second largest mosque in the world.
