The waterfront is undoubtedly one of the highlights of Kota Kinabalu. It extends for almost 2km starting just southwest of the Meridien hotel and ending at the Suria Sabah mall near the ferry terminal (Jesselton Point). The southern part consists of a wooden boardwalk area full of cafes and restaurants, while in the northeastern part there is a promenade with several statues and shopping malls. From the boardwalk tourists enjoy great sunset views.
