43 Gold funerary ornament
Baalbek, Roman period.
This funerary ornament belongs to a woman who was buried in a sarcophagus. A diadem made out of stylised oak leaves was placed on her head. The forehead, eyes, nose and mouth were covered with gold sheets. Some of these were also sawn on the woman's dress.
