The centre of Bishkek around Ala-Too square and Chuy Avenue contains a number of interesting Soviet era buildings and some parks. There are two Manas statues (the mythic Kyrgyz hero), one in Ala-Too square next to the National historical museum and one next to the Philharmonic hall. The Lenin statue lies behind the National historical museum, while Panfilov park is adjacent to it. Chuy or Chui avenue is one of the main streets in Bishkek.
