Also known as Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, the cathedral of Florence was built between 1294 and 1418 based on a design by Arnolfo di Cambio. The cupola was completed between 1420 and 1436 by Filippo Brunelleschi. The cathedral complex includes the church, the baptistery and the campanile (bell tower).
