Bela is a traditional Ngada village located at 1070m of altitude in the mountains along the southern coast of Flores, about 20km inland and a few km south of Bajawa. It consists of two rows of houses built with traditional materials such as bamboo and thatched roofs and a central square with animistic shrines (Ngadhu and Bhaga) and megalithic stone structures used for religious purposes.
