Punjab is a state in northwest India with a majority of Sikh followers. Its capital is Chandigarh and its population is 24 million inhabitants. The Pubjab state is part of the larger Punjab region, which includes the Pakistani province of Punjab and the North-West Frontier province, the Indian states of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, parts of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The largest economy sector in Punjab is agriculture, followed by manufacturing. The Golden Temple in Amritsar is the most important centre of Sikh faith.
