Chiemsee lake

Chiemsee in southeast Bavaria is the third largest lake in Germany. Sometimes referred to the Bavarian sea, the lake was created during the last glacial age 10000 years ago. The two major islands in the lake are called Herreninsel, on which the Herrenchiemsee castle is located, and Fraueninsel. The Chiemsee lake is a popular recreation area.
