Telc is a small city in south of the Czech republic, about 150km southeast of Prague. It is famous for its perfectly preserved historic core, which consists of a castle on a beautiful marketplace square. This square has the shape of a long triangle and is lined by houses with colourful facades built in renessaince and baroque styles. It's the typical Czech marketplace square, but in a much better preservation status than elsewhere. Telc was founded in the 14th century on a hilltop near the south-western border between Moravia and Bohemia. It was protected by stone walls surrounded by a moat. Destroyed by a fire in 1386, Telc was reconstructed in renessaince style in the 15th century. The historic centre of Telc has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1992.
