Dubrovnik is one of the most attractive cities of the Mediterranean sea. Located on the Dalmatian coast at the southern end of Croatia, Dubrovnik has a very well preserved historic core surrounded by city walls. The city was first founded in the 7th century AD and reached the peak of its development between the 14th and 18th centuries when it flourished from maritime trade. Nowadays Dubrovnik is a tourist magnet, registering 157214 arrivals in 2012. Following a devastating earthquake in 1667, Dubrovnik was almost completely rebuilt and has only few renessaince era buildings left. The Stradun is a large pedestrian area crossing Dubrovnik from southeast to northwest. Dubrovnik has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1979.
