At 7649 metres a.s.l. the Kongur Tagh mountain (Gonggeer Shan in Chinese) is the highest peak of the Kunlun Mountains. It is situated in a small subrange, known as the Kongur Shan, which forms the western end of the Kunlun mountain range. It is just north of the Muztagh Ata mountain and close to Karakul Lake and the Pamir Mountains.
