The Daning river, a tributary river of the Jiangze, passes through a set of gorges referred to as "Lesser Three Gorges". The scenery here is even more spectacular than the one of the main Three Gorges, probably because the water levels of the Jiangze have already risen by about 100-150m making the Jiangze wider and more peaceful, while the mountains surrounding the Daning river are probably higher and the river narrower. The names of the Lesser Three Gorges are "Dragon-Gate Gorge", "Misty Gorge" and "Dicui (Emerald) Gorge" and are accessed by boat from Wuxia (Wushan).
