On the Bell Tower square lies the Bell tower (Zhong Lou), sort of a big Chinese pagoda with a big bell. The Bell Tower dates back to the 14th century but was rebuilt in 1739 during the Qing dynasty. The Drum Tower (Beiyuanmen) is a smaller building near the bell tower with many red drums.
