South of the Royal Palace

The area to the south of the Royal palace has a number of interesting sights, among them the oval square with the independence monument, some beautiful Buddhist temples, the Cambodia Vietnam friendship monument square and the adjoint Pannasastra university, which was founded by a group of Cambodian expatriates from the USA. It's a relatively peaceful area with wide boulevards and interesting architecture.
