Hoan Kiem lake, also known as Ho Guom (lake of the restored sword) is one of the many lakes of Hanoi. It lies in central Hanoi and is named after an event of the 15th century (emperor lost his sword in the lake, and a golden turtle returned it to him). The lake is surrounded by a park, where the residents use to jog or do tai chi in the morning. In the middle of the lake there is a monument to the turtle. On the northern side lies the Ngoc Son pagoda connected to the shore with the scenic Huc bridge.
