Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, also known as the Kiev monastery of the caves, is a historic Eastern Orthodox Christian monastery in Kiev. It consists of a number of buildings on a hill overlooking the Dnieper river. The monastery was initially built in the 11th century and restored a number of times over the centuries. It has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1990.
