Koh Phangan is a smaller, less developed island located in the Gulf of Thailand north of Koh Samui. It used to be less developed than Koh Samui, attracting more adventurous travellers in search of less developed and more remote beaches. Koh Phangan nowadays has a well developed tourist infrastructure and many easily accessible beaches. The famous Full Moon party takes place on Haad Rin village one night per month (the full moon night). Every bar is hopping, the beaches packed with trance, dance, buckets, and various other suspicious substances.
