Some pictures of the monasteries of Batalha and Alcobaca and of the town of Obidos, which we visited as a day trip from Leiria. The Gothic-Manueline Mosteiro de Santa Maria da Vitória - usually known as Mosteiro da Batalha - dates back to the 15th century, while the Cistercian Mosteiro de Santa Maria de Alcobaca was built in the 12th century. Both mosteiros are Unesco World Heritage sites. Obidos is a beautyful fortified hilltop village.
