A selection of pictures of the Alentejo region. Evora, the capital of the Alentejo, the region lying between Lisboa and the Algarve, was founded by the Celts. Its golden era came between the 14th and 16th centuries. Its well preserved walled centre is a Unesco World Heritage site. Nearby Almendres has some very interesting megalithic era stone monuments.
