Wadi Dawkah is a natural park with many frankincense trees, located about 40 km north of Salalah, easily accessible from the motorway Salalah-Thumrayt. At the time of visiting (January 2011) the access road to it and the tourist facilities were still under construction. Wadi Dawkah was selected as a location for the national park due to the high density of frankincense trees and its proximity to Salalah. The Wadi Dawkah natural park stretches over the bed of the wadi approx. 4km from northwest to southeast. Frankincense trees are being planted in Wadi Dawkah, in an effort to increase the frankincense tree population. Wadi Dawkah has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 2000.
