Some pictures of Ava, which was founded in 1364 on the Ayeyarwady river by the Shan king Thadominbya and remained a royal capital for most the time until Amarapura was founded in 1782. Not much is left of Ava today, and there are villages within the city area and most ruins are overgrown.
