El-Hedim square is a big rectangular square lying between the medina of Meknes and the Imperial City. It is bordered by the city walls and the Bab el Chemis and Bab al Mansour gates. The Imperial city is the royal palace built by Moulay Ismail (1672-1727), which was however not completed according to the original plan.
