The Similajau national park lies about 30km north of Bintulu in Sarawak. It extends along the coast for 30km in north-south direction. The park was opened to the public in 1978 and has an area of 70 sq km. The outstanding feature of this park is the beautiful coastline, with long unspoiled sandy beaches broken only by rocky headlands and freshwater streams. The park headquarters is located at the southern end of the park. From here a number of trails start, all prooceding parallel to the coast. Accomodation is available in the park near the park headquarters. The park does not receive many visitors, because it is not well known.
