The Pineapple plant (scientific name Ananas comosus), native to the southern part of Brazil and Paraguay, is nowadays also grown in several parts of Malaysia. This herbaceous perennial plant grows to 1.0-1.5m tall with 30 or more trough-shaped and pointed leaves which surround a thick stem. The pineapple fruit is eaten fresh or canned and is available as a juice or in juice combinations.
