Bario Rice Farming

Pictures of rice farming and rice fields in the Bario valley, in the Kelabit highlands of central Borneo. The entire Bario valley is full of paddy fields. The Bario rice is famous for its quality and should be even better than the rice from Thailand.
The photos below were taken in September 2003 while the rice was being planted. The images show among others (Indonesian) workers setting out rice plants in the paddy fields.
