The Kota Kinabalu international airport is the second busiest airport in Malaysia after Kuala Lumpur international Airport. 19 airlines operate in the airport with flights to East and South East Asian countries. Photos 3-10 are of the new terminal 1 of the Kota Kinabalu airport. Between 2006 and 2009 the airport underwent renovations which included an extension of the runway to enable it to accommodate the Airbus A380 and the addition/expansion of passenger terminals to increase the passenger capacity to a total of 12 million passengers per year.
