The Kuala Lumpur railway station (Stesen Keretapi Kuala Lumpur in Malay) is an attractive building in Moorish style in central KL, not far away from Merdeka square. It was completed in 1910 and was the major railway hub in KL until 2001, when the new KL Sentral train terminal became operational. Next to the railway station is the National Mosque (Masjid Negara in Malay), a mosque completed in 1965 in modern style with a blue and green roof.
