Formally known as Masjid Negeri Sultan Abu Bakar the Sultan Abu Bakar mosque is Johor's state mosque. Construction of the mosque was completed in 1900. The mosque was built with a mix of colonial English Victorian and Middle Eastern Moorish architectural styles. The mosque is on a small hill overseeing the straits of Johor.
