The Osaka castle (Osaka-jo) was built in 1586 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi on the site of a former Buddhist temple in Osaka. The castle was continuously expanded and restaurated over the centuries. Nowadays it lies in the heart of Osaka, surrounded by a park. The picturesque white central tower was reconstructed in 1931. The castle is sometimes used by couples for photo shoots.
