Alexander's prison is located next to the tourist office in the old town of Yazd. The structure dates back to the 15th century and its name comes from the claim that it was built by Alexander the Great as a prison for some Persian protesters. Next to it lies the Tomb of the 12 Imams, an 11th century brick building containing inscriptions with the names of the twelve Imams, although none are actually buried there.
