The Iranian poet Saadi (Abu-Muhammad Muslih al-Din bin Abdallah Shirazi) lived between 1184 and 1283 or 1292 in Shiraz and is one of the major Persian poets. His most significant works are the Bostan and the Gulistan completed in 1257 and 1258. The tomb lies a few km out of Shiraz and is a relatively modern structure, surrounded by a nice garden. Below the tomb building there is a hall with an octagonal ceiling with impressive geometric patterns and a water well.
