The Tabatabei traditional house (also known as "Khaneh Tabatabaei ha" or "Khan-e Tabatabei") is the most impressive, well-kept and scenic of the traditional houses in Kashan. Built in the 1880s by the carpet merchant Seyyed Ja'far Tabatabei, the house is famous for its fine stuccos and impressive bas-reliefs and magnificent mirror and stained glass work. The Tabatabei house has a total area of 4730 sqm, and 40 rooms with more than 200 doors. It consists of three sections set around four courtyards, the largest of which has a long fountain pool.
