Labuan Bajo is a small city at the northwestern end of Flores. Originally a small fishing village, it has grown considerable in recent years due to the influx of tourists who come to visit the Komodo national park and to dive in the area. Labuan Bajo has an airport with direct connections to Bali and a harbour with boats travelling to the islands in the region (Komodo, Rinca etc.). Labuan Bajo has a number of hotels and guesthouses and many cafes and restaurants along its main street. The airport is about 1km east of the city centre.
