Agra, Uttar Pradesh's largest and most industrialised city, stands on the right bank of the river Yamuna. The city houses the world famous Taj Mahal and the Red Fort. With minor interruptions Agra alternated over the centuries with Delhi as the capital of the Mughal empire.
