On the Aghurmi hill four km east of Siwa lie the ruins of the Temple of the Oracle, built during the 26th dynasty in the 6th century BC. Alexander the Great visited this temple during his campaign against Persia to consult the oracle. The Temple of the Oracle is badly damaged and only a few walls and old structures are left standing.
