The Qin army of terracotta warriors near Xian, one of China's major tourist attractions, dates back to over 2000 years ago. The life size terracotta statues representing warriors of the first emperor of Qin, Qin Shi Huang, were discovered in 1974 buried in the ground. Since then substantial excavation and restoration activities have been carried through and today the statues are on display in several pavilions.
