Shamian Dao is an island on the Pearl river in Guangzhou, also known as Sand Surface island. It's a very quiet and laid back place, with colonial architecture, tree lined streets and parks. Shamian Dao was where the foreign traders resided and did their business in the 18th century. On Saturdays wedding couples come here for photo shootings, probably because of its western architecture and the French Christian church.
