The centre of Chongqing consists almost completely of skyscrapers and modern buildings, with the exception of the (small) Luohan Chinese temple which is nested between the skyscrapers. This could be due to the heavy bombardments which the city experienced during World War II or simply the urge of the Chinese to continously tear down old buildings to build new ones.
